Mamaw’s Apple Crisp

This is a recipe from my special mamaw who passed away long before I was born. When I bake, I feel connected to her every time. I think she would’ve been an amazing person to know.

Mamaw's Apple Crisp

Prep Time 15 minutes
Cook Time 30 minutes


  • 8x8x2 pan/baking dish
  • medium mixing bowl
  • spatula
  • cooking spray
  • oven


  • 4 cups apples (peeled and sliced)
  • cups brown sugar, packed ¾c if you like it sweeter
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup oats
  • ¾ tsp cinnamon
  • ¾ tsp nutmeg
  • cup softened butter/margarine


  • Preheat oven to 375ºF
  • Grease baking dish with cooking spray
  • Place apple slives into pan
  • Mix the other ingredients in a medium mixing bowl until thoroughly integrated
  • Sprinkle mixture over the apples
  • Bake 30 minutes or until apples are softened and topping is golden brown
  • Cool and serve
